Hi! My name is Steven Merrick, and I'm a 25 year old Sailor - STG (Sonar Technician - Surface) - in the United States Navy. I'm a happily married man whose hobbies enjoy cooking, riding motorcycles, programming, and playing tennis. I also collect teddy bears, and am known to turn into a magpie when I see shiny things.
A lot of my life has been spent in dabbling with various things, and I've found myself becoming quite the versatile individual as time passes. I dabble in jewlery making, writing, and even the financial aspects of running a business with my wife. I tend to find that there is never enough time in the day to enjoy doing everything that I want to do, but I can't ever really say I'm bored anymore!
I joined the Navy in January of 2011. After a two month stint at RTC, I was shipped out to sunny San Diego, CA for instruction as a sonar technician. While there, I converted from an operator to an operator/maintainer and extended my contract to 2017 from 2015, for a total of six years. Currently my plans are to work in the Navy for at least 20 years, retire, and open a food truck to travel fairs and shows offering tasty, healthy, reasonable portions of food for a good price.
